Save SU effect / synth
The save SU effect / synth window is used to specify where to save the state of the top level patch (including its sub-patches). It can be accessed via the save... item on the main menu.
Please be aware that it is not possible to overwrite the files that make up the SU library, as they are read-only. Attempting to do so will result in a polite error message to that effect. If this was not the case, then any changes that you made to the SU library files would be lost during any subsequent software update or reinstallation.
In addition to using the save SU effect / synth window, the state of the top level patch will normally be automatically saved as part of the host application's project file.
When saving the state of a patch, either on the clipboard, as an FXB file, or as part of a project, every effort is made to ensure that the resulting data is portable between different computers. If you save a patch on one machine and then load it in on another, it should function in exactly the same way, providing that both machines have any plugins used in the patch installed on them. If not, plugins used in the patch that are not found on the destination system will be shown with their names coloured red and will be muted by default. If it makes more sense in the context of the patch, you can bypass these plugins. Alternatively, you may prefer to replace the missing plugins with other ones that perform a similar function. If you decide to leave any missing plugins in the patch, then they will automatically be reloaded the next time that the patch is opened, as long as those plugins have first been scanned using the find plugins window.
The lock checkbox at the top of the save SU effect / synth window is used to finalize the contents of a patch and prevent further changes. This is the only feature that is not available in demo mode. In order to enable this feature, please purchase a licence and follow the activation instructions at the end of this document. Patches that have been locked via this mechanism will not have any noise added to their output, even when demo mode is in effect. This allows them to be freely distributed to others.
This window's other features, for selecting the patch presets and files to save, are identical to those described in the section relating to the save plugin window. Therefore, please refer there for further details about this window.
